MIN, my given middle name, is rooted in Korea’s dual writing tradition. Before Hangul existed, Korean names were written using hanja, Chinese characters chosen for their meaning. One of the strongest characters read as MIN is 敏, meaning quick, clever, and sharp.
With the creation of Hangul in the 15th century, MIN shifted from the complex strokes of 敏 into the modern, geometric syllable 민—a form built from balance clarity, and intentional structure. Hangul distilled the meaning into a shape that feels architectural: minimal strokes, precise spacing, and a quiet discipline in how it occupies its grid.
In practice, MIN reflects the qualities that guide my architectural work: responsiveness, intelligent problem‑solving, and sharp attention to detail. It’s a name shaped by heritage and carried forward as a design principle—quick, clever, and sharp, expressed through modern architecture.
